The Money of Beta Colony and Barrayar

Crystal Carroll, created this collection made for OryCon in 1998.

The Barayarran monetary system is based on the Imperial Mark. Barayarrans use Marks, Groats, coins, and even barter the rural regions as mediums of exchange. Each Mark is dedicated to Emperor Gregor Vorbarra or Emperor Gregor Vorbarra, long may he reign.


The Betan monetary system is based on the Betan dollar. Betans do not actually use paper money. This series of paper money is part of the 300 year anniversary of the founding of Beta Colony edition. The orginals are archived in the Silica Universities Antique Arts and Crafts Museum.
